Bermeo Tuna to take part in the 7th National Tuna Congress to drive sustainability and the future of the sector
Bermeo Tuna director Maitane Leizaola will join a round table at this leading national event, which will bring together institutional representatives, companies, experts and professionals from across the tuna value chain in Madrid
Bermeo Tuna will attend the 7th National Tuna Congress, which will take place on 4 November at the Palacio de Neptuno in Madrid, organised by OPAGAC. The association’s director, Maitane Leizaola, will take part in a round table addressing the future challenges and opportunities facing a sector that is strategic for the economy, food supply and the development of coastal communities.
The Congress is one of Spain’s main meeting and discussion forums for the tuna sector. This year’s programme will focus on key issues such as fleet competitiveness, environmental and social sustainability, a level playing field in international markets, ocean protection and generational renewal.
Bermeo Tuna’s participation in this forum strengthens its role as a leading organisation promoting a more sustainable, responsible and competitive tuna value chain. From Bermeo, the association works to connect companies, institutions, the scientific community and tuna-producing territories, promoting a holistic vision that combines environmental sustainability, economic development and social well-being.
Taking part in the National Tuna Congress is another opportunity to contribute to the debate on the sector’s future and to strengthen recognition of Bermeo Tuna as a benchmark for sustainability, innovation and shared leadership across the tuna value chain.
These same challenges and opportunities will be central to Bermeo Tuna Forum 2027, which will take place from 30 April to 2 May in Bilbao and Bermeo. It will provide another opportunity to share knowledge, build alliances and move towards a sustainable development model for the sector.
