¡Diversión y sabor con Bermeo Tuna en la Arrain Azoka!

Fun and flavor with Bermeo Tuna at the Arrain Azoka!

Arrain Azoka 2025 is just around the corner!

This year, Bermeo’s popular Arrain Azoka will be held from May 16 to 18, marking its 31st edition. As in previous years, companies linked to the fishing industry—primarily local businesses and those in the canning sector—will showcase their wide range of products and new offerings over the course of the three days, all guaranteed to be sustainable, exquisitely flavorful, and of the highest quality. In addition, there will be various activities in the main tent, product tastings at the different booths, and a charity food court where visitors can sample marmitako and bonito del norte during regular meal times over the course of the three days.

Bermeo Tuna Activities

As it does every year, the Azoka will center on gastronomy, and this year, we at Bermeo Tuna want to be part of this important event by delighting the palates of all Azoka visitors. We want them to take a culinary journey around the world, sampling different flavors and presentations, while discovering the various cooking and tasting styles each one has to offer. All of this will be led by Chef Endika Etxebarria of Alakrana, who will treat us to four different pintxos made with various types of tuna.

As if that weren’t enough, these pintxos will be paired with four different and exquisite txakolis, courtesy of Bizkaiko Txakolina, who will also guide us through their vineyards and share fascinating facts about winemaking as we enjoy this sublime pairing.

But it’s not just adults who will get to enjoy a culinary treat. We’ve also prepared culinary activities for the little ones, with the shared goal of helping them learn about the different types of tuna in a fun, engaging, and hands-on way. And what’s more, we’ll be savoring them! in a MasterChef-style workshop. For us, it’s TUNA TXEF. The little ones will have the chance to learn how to make two pintxos with different types of tuna (tuna vs. northern bonito), distinguish between them based on texture and flavor, and taste them while having fun learning.

All activities will take place in the food tent (large tent) at the Arrain Azoka, in La Lamera.

The dates and times of these activities are:

  • Friday, May 16 – TUNA TXEF – 5:15 p.m. (€5)
  • Saturday, May 16 – TUNA TXEF – 11:45 a.m. (€5)
  • Saturday, May 17 – Tuna Tasting and Pairing (adults) (€10)

Charitable Cause

It is important to note that the proceeds from these activities will go toward a charitable cause, as all money raised from ticket sales will be donated in full to the Arrain Azoka charity: it will be used to fund medical treatments not covered by the public health system for children ages 6 to 12 (in Bermeo). As a result, in addition to enjoying a special wine-and-dine event and learning about our town’s automotive industry, participants in these activities will be contributing to this charitable cause. Thank you very much in advance.
